What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship provides you with valuable skills and a qualification. You will study the equivalent of one day a week, usually at your place of work, so you won't have to travel to a college or other establishment outside of your work hours.

You will be assigned a highly-skilled tutor and developmental coach who will impart their knowledge to you, guide you through the qualification and support you to make the most of your learning experience.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have gained the skills and knowledge needed to either succeed in your current job role or progress within your career.
What you will learn on your apprenticeship depends on the role that you are training for, however regardless of the course you are studying for, apprentices in every role follow an approved study programme, which means you'll gain a nationally-recognised qualification at the end of your apprenticeship.
Throughout your studies, you will be constantly developing your transferable skills which are highly valued by employers, these include communication, teamwork, problem solving and IT.
The length of your apprenticeship will depend on the level at which you're studying, your chosen sector, employer requirements and your individual ability, but typically they last as follows:
-
intermediate apprenticeship - between one year and 18 months
-
advanced apprenticeships - 18 to 24 months
-
higher and degree level apprenticeships - 2 to 4 years
